Marcus Poteete, CFP®

Financial Advisor

“Success is not final. Failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts.” ”
– Winston Churchill

Marcus the collaborator.

As a financial advisor with Transitions, Marcus is excited at the prospect of potential. His favorite part of working with the team is the opportunity to utilize the unique talents of his colleagues to pursue solutions that empower clients to reach their goals. Never satisfied with the status quo, Marcus has an innate ability to forge strong partnerships and empathize with the unique needs of his clients. Prior to joining Transitions in 2023, Marcus worked as a financial advisor with Edward Jones and later as a Vice President, Financial Consultant for Charles Schwab. In addition to holding the Certified Financial Planner™ designation, he also holds his Series 7 and Series 66 licenses.

Marcus the athlete.

Driven? Disciplined? Absolutely. Marcus finds himself at home in the water. A competitive swimmer, he swam collegiately for Michigan State and competed in the 2008 Olympic Trials in the 100m Butterfly event. As a dedicated athlete, it’s no surprise you’ll find him skiing in Tahoe, golfing, or hunting waterfowl in his spare time. Marcus lives with his wife and their young son in Santa Cruz. His compassionate nature extends beyond the office with his yearly participation in Walk MS.

What Transitions means to Marcus, and vice versa.

Marcus values the deeply personal approach the team at Transitions brings to each relationship. His personality fits right in, as he brings a positive outlook, energy, and enthusiasm to every situation. He views each day as a fresh slate, saying the best part of the job is that “every day is different and brings about new challenges and opportunities to help our clients.” We feel fortunate to have such a talented advisor and life-long learner as part of the family.
